Stanford
Young Investigators

At the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, high school scholars spend the summer working in research groups and laboratories on the main Stanford campus. In the summer of 2024 I mentored two students analyzing earthquake clustering in Northern California. Clubes de Ciencia Mexico

Clubes de Ciencia Mexico (CdeCMx) is a not-for-profit civil association that aims to provide the best extracurricular program for scientific education, generate high technological impact in Mexico, and offer educational opportunities that allow high school and university students to develop in STEM areas.

In the summer of 2024, I designed and taught the course Dynamic Earth, exploring earthquakes, volcanoes and tectonics in Mexico.

Stanford GeoKids

The Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability offers second grade students from local schools a fun and engaging field trip experience on the Stanford campus. They are introduced to the "work of a geologist" with hands-on educational activities, focused on minerals, rocks, and soil. A mid-morning break offers a running game called the erupting volcano. Each student gets an official Geology Field Book to record their observations, just like real geologists.

I am an advocate of sharing science. I am happy to talk to anyone about the Earth, especially Earthquakes.
